We hope you all had a fantastic weekend! New member recruitment is in full swing, and we’ve got plenty of excited prospective members eager to learn more about AED.

Please read through all the announcements carefully. Don’t forget to swing by Game Night on Monday at the SUB to show them what AED is all about! For every prospective member you inform about a recruitment event, you’ll receive a raffle entry for a Merch credit—just make sure they list your name on the attendance sheet. This week, we also have new member interviews. Please sign up and help conduct these interviews alongside the executive board. Additionally, if you’re interested in touring the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, fill out the interest form! Lastly, don’t miss our upcoming LSE and social event next weekend.

Forms and Deadlines:

  • General Membership Form is due 10/02 after the 2nd GM at 11:59pm. It is REQUIRED FOR ALL GENERAL MEMBERS! Failure to fill this out will result in being marked inactive!

  • New Member Application is NOW OPEN and closes 9/10 at 11:59pm! Tell your friends! Visit the Prospective Members page for more information.

  • Sign up for NM Interviews on 9/11 and 9/12 from 6:00-9:00 pm to earn 1 scholarship credit if you sign up for 4 interview slots or 1 check-in slot! Sign up for PHM showcase on 9/12 to earn 1 scholarship credit.

  • TCOM School Visit Interest Form: AED is touring UNT TCOM on October 25th at 3:00 PM. Fill out this form if you are interested in attending for 1 scholarship credit.

General Meeting Dates:

  • Our general meetings this semester will be from 7:30-8:30pm on 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/13, & 12/4, location TBD! Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. Please email Evan or Mariele if you cannot attend one or all of these GM dates at least two weeks in advance. We will only provide GM exemptions to those with classes or exams.

Scholarly Events

  • NM Interview and PHM Showcase Signup Form: Please use the spreadsheet linked to sign up for interviews or tabling at the PHM showcase this week! Interviews will be held on September 11th and 12th from 6:00-9:00pm and PHM showcase is on September 12th from 7:00-8:30pm! You can receive 1 scholarship credit by signing up for four slots, one check-in slot, or representing AED at the PHM showcase (and a maximum of one scholarship credit in total).

  • Interest Form for In-Person Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine School Visit: Please fill out this form if you are interested in visiting and touring UNT TCOM on October 25th at 3:00 PM. We will be touring the campus for about an hour to an hour and a half.

Upcoming Large Service Events

  • AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu).

  • Brahmi (brahmi_prayaga1@baylor.edu) is hosting an LSE at The Salvation Army on Saturday, September 14th from 9:30-11:30AM. Volunteers will be sorting donations and restocking to assist the staff.

    • Here is the LINK to sign-up if you are planning on going! Both Brahmi and Lexi are able to provide rides to anyone who needs it. 

Student Health Advisory Council is hosting a Blood Drive next week (September 9th-13th)! If you are able to donate, this will count as 1 LSE! All you have to do is send Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu) a selfie of you donating, and she will mark you off.

Weekly Service Form and Updates

  • Thank you to those who have filled out the Weekly Service Form & reached out to the clinical service chairs! The Master Spreadsheet has been updated with the volunteer sites that you have been assigned to! Please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu) if you think anything is off. 

    • If you have not heard from your Weekly Service Chair, please reach out to Lexi.

    • If you have to attend an orientation for your organization–that will still contribute to your weekly hours. Please let me know if you have any questions at all!

Dues

  • Semester Dues are $25 and must be paid by GM #3 (10/16)!

  • Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

  • Dues can be paid to our Venmo: @BaylorAED

    • Please do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED

Recruitment events: Come meet potential members at our events this week! Tell your friends! Our schedule is:

  • Game Night: September 9th from 6-8pm @ SUB Den  

  • Important! We will have another recruitment event incentive this semester! For every prospective member you inform about a recruitment event, you will receive 1 raffle entry! The prospective member must list your name on the attendance sheet as we will be verifying their attendance. After our events, we will give away a Merch Credit (valued at $15 off) to one lucky winner! This is a super fun way to earn a social credit and possibly get some merch!

    Important! We will also be giving away one tote bag on September 10th to a follower of the @BaylorAEDNMs account so go and follow that!

New Member Interviews will be held from 6:00-9:00pm on Wednesday (9/11) and Thursday (9/12). Use this link to sign up!

  • You can receive 1 scholarship credit by helping with 4 interview slots or 1 shift of applicant check-ins. Sign ups close Tuesday night at 11:59pm. Please make sure to dress business professional! Further information will be sent out later in the week if you sign up. 

We will also be tabling at the PHM Showcase on 9/12 so sign up to table here! Our goal is to reach as many interested freshmen as possible for the spring semester recruitment. If you have any questions about tabling at the PHM showcase, feel free to reach out to us!
