Our Mission Trip

Every year, AED sends a team of students to the Dominican Republic over Spring Break through our partner, One More Child. Students spend the week serving in a local village in a variety of ways, including painting, leading prayer vigils, hosting health talks, and playing with the children. They also shadow physicians in a number of clinical settings.

It is AED’s mission to provide relief and support for the less fortunate in the Dominican Republic by integrating empathy and guidance within a caring community.

What to Expect

AED’s mission team serves in the Dominican Republic and is given the opportunity to experience healthcare in an international context. From shadowing clinical rotations at various levels, to leading health seminars, or building community with the locals, there is sure to be something for everybody on this trip.

Our Members on the Mission Trip

“I have enjoyed being able to experience another culture and medicine practiced in a different country. I also like how AED has been able to establish a great relationship with our partner, One More Child, who constantly supports the communities we work with. ”

— Haley Turner, 2021 Graduate

“The missions to the Dominican Republic was hands down my favorite AED experience. Even though it didn’t go quite as we originally planned because of COVID, God was able to do even more than we expected. I am so grateful to have been able to love, serve, and build lasting relationships with the people of Azua!”

— Lexi Caudill, 2020 Graduate

“Although we came to the Dominican Republic to serve the less fortunate through health education, the locals in turn taught us even more about medicine as a calling, the importance of community, and God’s role in our daily lives.

— Aaron Rodriguez, 2021 Graduate

“Although this trip was drastically changed due to current events, it was still an incredibly meaningful experience and getting to interact with families in the Dominican Republic was amazing. I loved seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces whether they were learning about Bible stories or the importance of diet and exercise.”

— Seth Battad, Senior
