About Us
Welcome and thank you for your interest in Baylor AED!
Alpha Epsilon Delta is Baylor’s only Pre-Health Pre-Professional Honor Society and is part of AED on a national scale as the Texas Beta Chapter. Established in 1929, we have a rich and extensive history of serving pre-health students. We are an organization that seeks to foster the intellectual, professional, and personal development of our members through our programs and events, each designed to build camaraderie, fellowship, service, and excellence in scholarship.
Our New Member process and social events allow members to build strong bonds with other pre-health students. In addition, our members cultivate their hearts for service through a wide variety of events and programs, including an annual mission trip to the Dominican Republic.
There are numerous opportunities to get involved in research and shadowing through speaker events with faculty and notable members of the healthcare and research fields. Also, our annual Pre-Health Symposium, an event open to the Baylor Pre-Health community, promotes networking with over 40 different professional schools from Texas and the greater region.
We envision our organization to be a place to cultivate future health care professionals who lead lives of leadership, compassion, integrity, excellence, and continual learning. If you would like to receive more information about AED, fill out our contact form!
Our History
Alpha Epsilon Delta was founded in 1926 at the University of Alabama. Baylor became the fifth university to charter a chapter on April 11, 1929. Baylor became Texas Beta as University of Texas had established their chapter a few months before.
Baylor University’s Director of Pre-Health Studies, Dr. Richard Sanker, served as Editor of AED’s publication The Scalpel until 2012 and now serves as Regional Director for Region IV (Southwest) which includes Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
The Baylor chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta participates in the national convention, which occurs every two years. All members are invited to participate in this nationwide program. At each convention, there is an official delegate from all active chapters of AED. This delegate participates in voting and different sessions throughout the convention.
We are overseen by our wonderful advisor, Dr. Mojgan Parizi-Robinson.
