Event Recap: Haunted House Take A Date

While the looming deadlines for the semester may be enough to provide AED’s members with a fright, the alternative took place in a Halloween themed social event last Friday. For the only the second time in organization history, Baylor’s Alpha Epsilon Delta members were spotted at a social event deemed as a ‘take-a-date’. While dates were not required for attendance, this allowed for AED members to bring a guest to add to the fun and share their experience with being a member in this organization. This semester’s destination of choice: Waco’s most renown haunted house, The American Scare Grounds.

This haunted house attraction looms from the side of I-35 all year, but it welcomes the highest population of attendees during the Halloween season. The theme for this year’s theatrical display was All American, with new ownership being thrilled to put their spin on a classic Halloween tradition. Nearly all of the actor’s makeup and costumes contain elements of patriotism with slashes of red, white, and blue being found in every crevasse of the two warehouses used to facilitate spooks.

The two attractions that tickets for The American Scare Grounds allow entry to both offer a wide variety of entertaining interactions with cast members and the set. Formerly known as Waco Haunted House, the attraction is thrilled to be back open following COVID-19 regulations. Cast members were enthused to be scaring onlookers again and also encouraged members to reach out if seeking employment during the following season.

If you have yet to attend many social events with AED this semester, fear not! There are a few more large social events this semester that offer a variety of settings to allow the society’s members to bond with each other in a non-academic setting.  These include a Common Grounds Social, Karaoke Night, and even a Christmas Movie Watch Party!  Be sure to check out these events to fulfil your social requirements and make the most of your fall semester.
