New AED Requirement
Except for the members graduating in December 2023, ALL members will need to be an enzyme at least one semester prior to graduation in order to receive a AED graduation cord. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions regarding this new requirement.

Service
Annie & Yuki are hosting an interesting meeting this upcoming Tuesday at 6:00PM for AED’s Mission Trip next spring to the Dominican Republic. Members will receive a scholarship credit for attending! The application is open (use this link to apply), so it is super important to attend if you are interested in going or hearing more about the trip. (Reach out to yuki_reddy1@baylor.edu and annie_lodge1@baylor.edu if you have any questions!)
There will be another LSE opportunity this upcoming Saturday or Sunday (9/30 or 10/1) with the Salvation Army! Information will be sent in GroupMe once the time/date is confirmed.

Periwinkle X Be Kind Coffee Fundraiser on 9/27
There will be a fundraiser event at Be Kind Coffee on September 27th (Wednesday) benefitting the Periwinkle Foundation. The Periwinkle Foundation is a non-profit organization associated with Texas Children’s Hospital who benefit childhood cancer patients and their families through a number of programs and activities. You can explore their website and get an idea for all the programs here. Miranda will send out more information about the event in the groupme as soon as she receives it, but be sure to consider taking some time to go get a coffee to support this amazing organization!
Health Informatics & Health IT Professional Certificate Program
The HIHIT at a program provides a unique, comprehensive training in health information technology. It is a nine-week online intensive training program designed to prepare graduates and professionals for a variety of exciting careers in Health IT. This includes hands-on experience with health care technology, courses to build health IT knowledge, networking and job placement support with a wide network of employers. The program runs online three times per year in spring, summer and fall. 90% of our certificate graduates seeking a job in Health IT are employed within one year. 2023 Gil Taylor Behavioral Health Series
Dr. Adia Gooden, a licensed psychologist, renowned author, podcaster, and the visionary behind the viral TEDx Talk, “Cultivating Unconditional Self-Worth,” will be featured at this event on September 28th centering around recognizing self-worth in the midst of high achievements and academic endeavors. Discover insights on mental health, enjoy interactive discussions, and network with like-minded individuals. RSVP as a student to receive free lunch at the Lunch and Learn from 11:30am-1:00pm in Cashion 506, and then come back for the Green Table Talk from 6:30-8:00pm at the Hurd Welcome Center. Prehealth Office Events
There are a ton of great events hosted by the prehealth office this semester! Check out the flyer to see if there are any that you might want to attend. All of the workshops are intended for sophomores and juniors beginning to think about the committee process and applications to medical school. There is a personal statement workshop that is open to all prehealth student, not just for pre-medical students.
