Mission Trip

Join Annie & Yuki at the Missions Fair to taste foods from different cultures, earn prizes, play games, and connect with the AED/AMWA team! Come learn more about the Dominican Republic and the mission trip!

  • This event is a part of Missions Week, and it will take place on October 3rd from 6-8PM at Fountain Mall. Reach out to yuki_reddy1@baylor.edu and annie_lodge1@baylor.edu if you have any questions!

  • Here is the link to the Mission Trip application! It closes November 8th, so make sure to fill it out early to secure your spot. 

Other Service Updates

  • Shepherd’s Heart LSE: Complete this form if you would like to volunteer with Shepherd’s Heart from 3-4PM this Friday for an LSE credit! Weekly volunteers can choose to use this as an LSE or a weekly credit. Reach out to giulia_ishi1@baylor.edu or myself with any questions. 

  • Fall 2023 Steppin’ Out LSE: Steppin’ Out will take place on October 21st from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM. ALL volunteers must complete this registration form at this link. It is super important to register by October 6th to ensure that AED can volunteer together! So please fill out the registration ASAP. 

  • 2023 Baylor Faculty & Staff Appreciation Night LSE: Event at McLane Stadium from 4:30-9:15 PM on October 14th with inflatables, games, food trucks, and more to give back to Baylor Staff. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt, entree, dessert, and drink for helping out. There are shifts that will be assigned and range from 1:00-10:00PM (set-up, event, and takedown). Fill out this form by October 5th at 11:59PM indicating your availability on October 14th, as volunteer lists need to be finalized on the 6th! 

  • Ironman Waco LSE: Various shifts available from Friday-Sunday (October 13th-15th)! Volunteers must sign up for their shifts and register at this link. The website has a list of the available shifts/responsibilities as well as how many spots are left. If you plan on using this as an LSE, please send me an email of your proof of registration. 🙂

Upcoming Opportunities/Resources

Foodie Series @ Union Hall

  • On Wednesday 10/11, right before the general meeting, join us for dinner at Union Hall!

  • It will be from 6:00-7:00pm so we can go to the general meeting right afterward at 7:30! You must stay for at least 30 minutes to obtain a social credit!

Global Health Week: Our Community Our Future Event

This upcoming week is global health week! This year, the theme is Social Determinants of Health, and each day of the week corresponds to one of five social determinants. There are a variety of incredible events being put on by many pre health organizations that you should keep an eye out for. Make sure to attend the one put on by our very own Global Health Chairs this Wednesday (October 4th) from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in BSB D109! Attendees will receive 1 scholarship credit. Health Informatics & Health IT Professional Certificate Program

The HIHIT at a program provides a unique, comprehensive training in health information technology. It is a nine-week online intensive training program designed to prepare graduates and professionals for a variety of exciting careers in Health IT. This includes hands-on experience with health care technology, courses to build health IT knowledge, networking and job placement support with a wide network of employers. The program runs online three times per year in spring, summer and fall. 90% of our certificate graduates seeking a job in Health IT are employed within one year. Prehealth Office Events

There are a ton of great events hosted by the prehealth office this semester! Check out the flyer to see if there are any that you might want to attend. All of the workshops are intended for sophomores and juniors beginning to think about the committee process and applications to medical school. There is a personal statement workshop that is open to all prehealth student, not just for pre-medical students.

A Moment of Magic Event

A Moment of Magic and The Office of Student Leadership Development will be hosting the Founder and Executive Director of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, A Moment of Magic Foundation, on campus this week for a speaker event. Kylee McGrane-Zarnoch is a pediatric cancer awareness advocate, viral social media creator, children's book author, NYC-based entrepreneur, and highly accomplished individual in the sectors of leadership, mental health awareness, and creative programming for vulnerable and underserved youth. This speaker event is open to the entire campus for students to learn from Kylee about her experiences in leadership and serving pediatric patient populations!
