Hey AED! Thank you to everyone who came out to the New Member Picnic today! Special shoutout to Team Brazil for winning the tournament! We’ve got some important announcements this week, so please read through them carefully.
First, our 2nd General Meeting of the semester is this Wednesday in BSB A108 from 7:40-8:40 pm (please note the slight time change!). Be sure to bring a package of diapers to earn an LSE credit. On Friday, we’re hosting our 2nd annual pickleball tournament. If you're interested in playing, don't forget to register! We also have open slots for tabling all throughout the week and refereeing at the tournament.
This week, we’re offering three scholarship events: a Global Health Jeopardy event hosted by AED for Global Health Week, plus info sessions for Columbia Dental School and Avalon University School of Medicine. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for our Marina Social and New Member Auction next weekend! Finally, if you're a general member, make sure to fill out the membership form by Wednesday night to avoid being marked inactive this semester.

2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament Sign up Form: AED is hosting the 2nd Annual Pickleball tournament on Friday, October 4 at 5:00! Sign up with the link for some friendly competition that features prizes, concessions, raffles, and photo-ops!
Play in the tournament for 1 Social Credit.
TCOM School Visit Interest Form: AED is touring UNT TCOM on October 25th at 3:00 PM.
Fill out this form if you are interested in attending for 1 scholarship credit.

General Meeting Dates:
Our general meetings this semester will be on 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, 10/30, 11/13, & 12/4, at BSB A108 (NEW LOCATION!!)! Because our new room hosts an SI session until 7:30pm, our general meetings will now begin at 7:40pm and end at 8:40pm. Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. Please email Evan or Mariele if you cannot attend one or all of these GM dates at least one week in advance. We will only provide GM exemptions to those with classes or exams.

Come bond with your fellow AED members while paddleboarding or kayaking on the Brazos! This event has a 25 person limit, so if you plan on attending please fill out this form.
Please note that this form is different from the initial Marina Social Interest Form, so please fill it out even if you have already filled out the previous one. Also, make sure to only RSVP if you are SURE you can attend the event so we can get a proper head count! Can’t wait to see y’all on the water!

AED Global Health Jeopardy: Join us for an exciting jeopardy event hosted by the Global Health chairs! Here, you’ll test your knowledge on health issues around the world while having fun with friends. You will earn ONE scholarship credit!
Columbia Dental School: Come join this virtual seminar hosted by Columbia Dental School about their program, application process, and more! The seminar will be held on October 3rd at 5:00 PM. You will earn ONE scholarship credit!
Avalon University School of Medicine: Speak with AUSOM’s admission officer in person in BSB D105 on October 3rd at 6:30 PM. Come learn more about what the school has to offer as a medical student and earn one scholarship credit!
Pickleball Tournament Tabling: Please sign up for tabling to advertise the 2nd Annual Pickleball Tournament! You will earn ONE scholarship credit for signing up for TWO shifts.
Interest Form for In-Person Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine School Visit: Please fill out this form if you are interested in visiting and touring UNT TCOM on October 25th at 3:00 PM. We will be touring the campus for about an hour to an hour and a half.
Service
Upcoming Large Service Events
AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu).
Pay-for-credit LSE: We are helping McLennan County Diaper Collective host a drive for National Diaper Need Awareness Week. There is no government assistance for diapers, so MCDC is a newer non-profit in Waco that aims to fill this gap and runs solely on donations. To earn an LSE credit, please bring a package of diapers (any size; at least 100 diapers) to the next GM (10/2). The diapers should be HEB/Walmart brand, and not name-brand diapers to save money (Refer to the pictures below for examples). Please no pull ups–just regular diapers. Diapers run in sizes from newborn to 7. Reach out to Lexi if you are not able to drop off at the next two general meetings!
Additionally, we will be having an LSE with MCDC on Tuesday, October 8th from 6-8PM to wrap and package all the diapers that we have collected for distribution. If you are planning on coming to the wrapping on 10/8, please fill out this FORM.
AED’s hosting our Annual Pickleball Tournament this Friday, October 4 from 5:00-10:00pm, and we are looking for volunteers to referee and sell concessions! If you are signing up to be a referee we will inform you on the rules and regulations so look out for a follow-up email with further details! You do not need to already know the rules to participate! Please sign up at this LINK. You will earn one LSE for reffing a 1.5 hour time slot. Please reach out to Lexi if you would rather use this to count for weekly hours, and new members can participate as well!
Ironman Waco LSE: Various shifts available from Friday-Sunday (October 4th-6th)! Volunteers must sign up for their shifts and register at this LINK. The website has a list of the available shifts/responsibilities as well as how many spots are left. If you plan on using this as an LSE, please send Lexi an email of your proof of registration & a selfie of you volunteering.
Loaves of Love occurs every 2 weeks in Earle Classroom. Loaves of Love is a weekly service opportunity, but AED members can attend ANY date this semester for 1 LSE credit. Note: Loaves of Love can only count for 1 LSE of your required 3, and you MUST bring a donation (2 loaves of bread OR 3 jars of jelly or peanut butter) in order to earn an LSE. The next date will be Friday, October 4th from 4:45-5:45 PM. To receive credit, show up at 4:45PM and fill out the sign-in on the whiteboard.

Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

2nd Annual AED Pickleball Tournament
Grab your doubles partner, because AED is hosting the 2nd Annual AED Pickleball Tournament on Friday, October 4 from 5:00-10:00! Signups are $15/team, however if we have 5 teams from AED signup, they will drop to just $10/team! Make sure to tell your friends! Come out for riveting matches, exciting prizes, delicious concessions, scenic photo-ops, and so much more! Playing in the tournament will also give you one social credit, so don’t miss out!
