Upcoming Large Service Events

AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu).

  • 1 Large Service Event can be “carried in” from another organization per semester, and 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity.

    • We will be partnering with ASDA to serve at the World Hunger Relief Farm on 2/28, 3/21, and 4/25!

    • The first date is this Friday, February 28th from 2-5PM.

      • You can earn 3 weekly hours or 1 LSE for attending.

      • The tasks entail assisting with field turnover, caring for livestock, pulling weeds, sifting compost, or anything else the staff may need.

      • Please fill out this FORM if you want to come on 2/28, so we can put you in contact with ASDA’s service committee as Lexi is not able to attend on 2/28.

    • There is no government assistance for diapers, so McLennan County Diaper Collective is a newer non-profit in Waco that aims to fill this gap and runs solely on donations.

    • To earn an LSE credit, please bring a package of diapers (any size; at least 100 diapers) to the next GM (3/5).

      • The diapers should be HEB/Walmart brand, and not name-brand diapers to save money. Please no pull ups–just regular diapers. Diapers run in sizes from newborn to 7.

      • Reach out to Lexi if you are not able to drop off at the next general meeting to coordinate another option to drop-off!

    • Additionally, we will be having an LSE with MCDC on Thursday, March 6th from 6-8PM to wrap and package all the diapers that we have collected for distribution!

    • Pizza will be provided.

    • If you are planning on coming to the wrapping on 3/6, please fill out this FORM.

    • Steppin’ Out is Saturday, April 5th from 8-12pm or 9-1pm! Everyone who wants to participate must complete their registration form at this LINK!

      • Registration will close on March 19th at 11:59PM, and if you do not register you will not be able to attend! Note: you can only register with 1 organization, so please reach out to Lexi with your plans if you are serving with another organization.

    • Loaves of Love occurs every 2 weeks in Earle Classroom. Loaves of Love is a weekly service opportunity, but AED members can attend ANY date this semester for 1 LSE credit.

      • Note: Loaves of Love can only count for 1 LSE of your required 3, and you MUST bring a donation (6 loaves of Hill Country Extra Thin Bread (blue)- $1/piece) in order to earn an LSE.

    • The next date for the semester is Friday, March 7th. To receive credit, first fill out this LINK (there is a 10-member max for LSE credit), show up at 4:45PM, bring your donations, and fill out the sign-up on the whiteboard.
