Important Membership Updates!

From the Spring 2025 semester on, AED will now be requiring all general members to complete two scholarship credits. All other general member requirements will remain the same. With a variety of events and opportunities available, we hope that this new requirement aims will enhance member engagement and support the continued growth and success of the organization. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Executive Board!

Forms and Deadlines:

  • New Member Application is due TONIGHT, 2/2 at 11:59pm! Tell your friends!

  • The deadline to apply for Ascension Providence to be a consistent volunteer (4 hours a week) is February 3rd!

    • Please refer to Lexi’s email on January 14th for a step-by-step on how to apply, and reach out to Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu once you are set up to volunteer.

  • Valentine’s Day Bake Sale Sign Ups: Read the fundraising section for more information.

    • Sign up to bring a treat for 1 LSE or 1 service hour if you bring at least 12 servings.

    • Sign up to table for 1 LSE or 1 service hour if you sign up for 1 hour of tabling.

  • General Membership Form is due 02/19 after the 2nd GM at 11:59pm. It is REQUIRED FOR ALL GENERAL MEMBERS!

Be sure to review the Master Spreadsheet periodically throughout the semester for your credits. Email mariele_patungan1@baylor.edu if you have any questions!

General Meeting Dates:

  • Our general meetings will be from 7:30-8:30 pm on 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, 3/26, 4/9, and 4/23.

  • GM #1 on 2/5 will be in FOSTER 240 (DIFFERENT LOCATION!). The rest of the locations will be held in BSB D110.

    • Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. Please email Mariele (mariele_patungan1@baylor.edu) if you cannot attend one or all of these GM dates at least two weeks in advance. We will only provide GM exemptions to those with classes or exams.

Pre-Health Symposium

The 52nd Annual Pre-Health Symposium will be on February 15th at the Mark & Paula Hurd Center from 9:45 AM to 1:45 PM. Over 40 professional schools (medical, dental. OT, PT, and more!) are attending from across the country so be sure to come and converse with the institutions’ representatives about their programs and admission processes. 

  • Host Sign-Ups for GMs will go live on 2/9 at 7:00 PM. Please only sign up if you are able to attend the host training on 2/11 at 6:30 PM. 

  • Feel free to reach out to shynitha_pulluri1@baylor.edu if you have any questions regarding PHS and/or host-sign ups!

Weekly Service Form and Updates

  • Thank you to those who have filled out the Weekly Service Form & reached out to the clinical service chairs! The Master Spreadsheet has been updated with the volunteer sites that you have been assigned to! Please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu) if you think anything is off. 

  • If you have not heard from your Weekly Service Chair, please reach out to Lexi.

  • If you have to attend an orientation for your organization–that will still contribute to your weekly hours. Please let me know if you have any questions at all!

    • Liana has contacted all applicants of Waco Family Medicine. If you are a new member, please make sure to respond to her email regarding your size for an AED polo. For all members, please make sure that you are keeping up to date with your email and completing orientation steps as volunteering starts this week!

    • If you applied to Ascension Providence or are a returning volunteer, please email Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu. Applications for Ascension close on February 3rd, so you can still apply. Please refer to the email Lexi sent on January 14th for a step-by-step on how to apply.

  • If you are concerned about a weekly service time commitment, car/carpool situation, or you are already involved in valuable service that you are passionate about, please reach out to Lexi at Lexi_Haviland1@baylor.edu

Upcoming Large Service Events

AED requires general members to attend 3 Large Service Events each semester! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu).

  • 1 Large Service Event can be “carried in” from another organization per semester, and 1 Large Service Event can be a “pay for credit” opportunity. 

    • Night To Shine, a prom celebration for individuals with disabilities, is this Friday February 7th from 6 to 9PM.

    • I volunteered last year at Night to Shine and worked the red carpet to cheer on these individuals as they walked the red carpet! Buddy spots are full, so anyone interested will also be helping out at the red carpet.

    • Please reach out to Lexi at lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu if you want to use this as an LSE and she can provide you with information on how to sign up.

Finance

Dues

  • Semester Dues are $25 and must be paid by GM #3 (3/5)!

    • Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3

    • Dues can be paid to our Venmo: @BaylorAED or Zelle: aed.txbeta@gmail.com

      • Please do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED.

  • Contact Ian at ian_stahl1@baylor.edu for any questions or if Venmo does not work for you.

Fundraisers

MOD Pizza Profit Share

AED will be hosting a profit share with MOD Pizza all day on February 5! Swing by to enjoy your favorite MOD pizza and support AED!

Make sure to show the flyer at checkout and email a picture of your receipt to ian_stahl1@baylor.edu to receive one social sredit!

Valentine’s Day Bake Sale

AED will be hosting a Valentine's Day Bake Sale on February 14th from 10:00-2:00 pm at the SUB! There will be numerous opportunities to get LSE credits, weekly service hours, and social credits

  • Bake a dessert: 

    • Bake a dessert with at least 12 servings to receive 1 LSE or 1 WEEKLY SERVICE HOUR

    • Please label your items with what the item is, and if there are any allergens (e.g., nuts, gluten, dairy).

    • Sign up to bring a treat HERE to receive credit for your donation.

    • Donations should be brought to the table by 10:00am. If you are unavailable at that time, please reach out to ian_stahl1@baylor.edu or danny_le1@baylor.edu to arrange another donation time

  • Table during the event:

    • Serve for 1 hour at the table to earn 1 LSE or 1 SERVICE HOUR. Sign up with the link HERE

  • Make a purchase at the bake sale:

    • Purchase 3 items at the bake sale to receive 1 Social Credit
