Welcome Back, AED!
We hope you had a relaxing winter break and a Happy New Year! We're looking forward to another exciting semester with you all. There are several important announcements and events happening in the coming weeks, so please read through them carefully.
First, we’re excited for our Spring 2025 recruitment schedule to kick off this week! AED will be tabling at the SUB and Hallie Earle Hall on Wednesday, 1/22, and Thursday, 1/23. Sign up to help us recruit new members and share what makes AED so special! Join us for the Loco for Cocoa recruitment event at the Vera Martin Daniel Plaza on Thursday, 1/25. Stop by for some sweet hot chocolate and make sure to dress warm as we welcome potential new members!
Next, don’t forget to complete the weekly service signup form by next Monday, January 27. Check out the weekly service video and website for information on the various service opportunities that AED offers.
Lastly, we have a quick membership update: Starting this semester, members must now obtain two scholarship credits to maintain active membership. If you have any questions about this, feel free to reach out to any member of the executive board. And mark your calendars for this semester’s general meeting dates: 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, 3/26, 4/9, and 4/23.

Important Membership Updates!
From the Spring 2025 semester on, AED will now be requiring all general members to complete two scholarship credits. All other general member requirements will remain the same. With a variety of events and opportunities available, we hope that this new requirement aims will enhance member engagement and support the continued growth and success of the organization. Forms and Deadlines:
Interest Tabling Form: Sign up to table for AED Recruitment on 1/22-1/23 and 1/28-1/29 from 11:00-4:00pm!

Weekly Service Preference Form is due Monday, January 27th at 11:59PM. Read the service section of the weekly email BEFORE filling out this form.
Waco Family Medicine Clinical Service | Please refer to the service section of weekly email & Lexi’s email sent out on January 14th for more information.
Application must be emailed to Liana_vuu1@baylor.edu by Tuesday, January 21st at 11:59PM. Returners must also fill out the returning volunteer google form by this date and time. AED members will hear back on January 25th.
General Membership Form is due 02/19 after the 2nd GM at 11:59pm. It is REQUIRED FOR ALL GENERAL MEMBERS!
New Member Application opens 1/21 and is due 2/2 at 11:59pm! Tell your friends! Visit the Prospective Members page or the AED New Member Instagram for more information.
New Member Interview Signups: Interviews will be held 2/5 from 4-7pm and 2/6 from 5-8pm.
Earn 1 scholarship credit if you sign up for 4 interview slots or 1 check-in slot!
Be sure to review the Master Spreadsheet periodically throughout the semester for your credits. Email mariele_patungan1@baylor.edu if you have any questions!
General Meeting Dates:
Our general meetings will be from 7:30-8:30 pm on 2/5, 2/19, 3/5, 3/26, 4/9, and 4/23. The GM 1 on 2/5 will be in FOSTER 240 (NEW LOCATION!). The rest of the locations are TBD and will be announced in February. Go ahead and plan on putting those on your calendar so you can meet the GM requirement. Please email Mariele (mariele_patungan1@baylor.edu) if you cannot attend one or all of these GM dates at least two weeks in advance. We will only provide GM exemptions to those with classes or exams.
Scholarly Events
AED Interest Tabling Form: Please use the spreadsheet linked to sign up for the first week of school tabling! It will be on January 22nd, 23rd, 28th, and 29th, from 11:00-4:00pm at the SUB and Hallie Earle Hall!
You can receive 1 scholarship credit by signing up for two 30-minute shifts (and a maximum of one scholarship credit in total).
NM Interview Signup Form: Please use the spreadsheet linked to sign up for interviews! Interviews will be held on February 5th, 4:00-7:00pm and February 6th, 5:00-8:00pm!
You can receive 1 scholarship credit by signing up for four slots or one check-in slot (and a maximum of one scholarship credit in total).
The 52nd Annual Pre-Health Symposium will be on February 15th at the Mark & Paula Hurd Center from 9:45 AM to 1:45 PM. Over 40 professional schools (medical, dental. OT, PT, and more!) are attending from across the country so be sure to come and converse with the institutions’ representatives about their programs and admission processes.
More information regarding host sign-ups will go out in the following weeks.

Weekly Service Form and Updates
It’s time to fill out the signup sheet with your two top choices for weekly service! Check out the weekly service informational video for details on the different weekly service opportunities AED offers!

The signup form will close next Monday, January 27th at 11:59 PM. Please fill this out if you plan on being active this semester.
To remain active: Members will need to serve 10 hours at their respective volunteer site. Please reach out to Lexi (lexi_haviland1@baylor.edu) with any questions!
If you are interested in serving at Waco Family Medicine with AED, please refer to the email Lexi sent on January 14th for a link to the application. Please email Liana_Vuu1@baylor.edu your completed application by January 21st at 11:59PM. If you are a returning volunteer, please fill out this google form by January 21st so Liana can place you on the schedule. New volunteers will be notified of their selection on January 25th. If you are volunteering with Waco Family Medicine, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form.
If you applied to Ascension Providence or are a returning volunteer, please email Hana_Jang1@baylor.edu. Applications for Ascension close on February 3rd, so you can still apply. Please refer to the email Lexi sent on January 14th for a step-by-step on how to apply. If you are volunteering with Ascension, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form.
If you are interested/a returning volunteer in Mission Waco’s Health Clinic, please reach out to Tyler_Tuisl1@baylor.edu ASAP. This will be AED’s second semester helping with this brand-new opportunity. It is a free clinic for people in Waco who do not have health insurance. Volunteers will triage patients, take their history, measure vitals, and shadow the physicians. AED volunteers will go in once or twice a month for 2-3 hours on Tuesdays or Thursdays. If you are volunteering at Mission Waco’s Health Clinic, you do not need to fill out the Weekly Service Signup Form.
If you are concerned about a weekly service time commitment, car/carpool situation, or you are already involved in valuable service that you are passionate about, please reach out to Lexi at Lexi_Haviland1@baylor.edu.
Finance
Dues
Semester Dues are $25 and must be paid by GM #3 (3/5)!
Dues will be raised to $35 after GM #3
Dues can be paid to our Venmo: @BaylorAED or Zelle: aed.txbeta@gmail.com
Please do not mark your dues as a service as it charges AED.

Important! We will have another recruitment event incentive this semester! For every prospective member you inform about a recruitment event, you will receive 1 raffle entry! The prospective member must list your name on the attendance sheet as we will be verifying their attendance. After our events, we will give away a Merch Credit (valued at $15 off) to one lucky winner! This is a super fun way to earn a social credit and possibly get some merch!
