Event Recap: Prehealth Tailgate

For a couple of hours before the start of Baylor vs. Iowa State football game, if you walked across from the Law School, you could have seen a navy-colored tent amid many others, full of people decked out in green and gold, eating and socializing together. This was a tailgate put together by AED. What was even more exciting was that we were joined by other prehealth organizations, like SPOTA, BURST, MSO, and ASDA!

This Prehealth Tailgate was organized by Taylor Siebenman, the Vice President of Social Events. Her motivation for creating this event was to celebrate having everyone back on campus, as there are some friends who have not seen each other for a long time and a couple of the AED new member classes have not had the chance to meet the general members until now.

There were Chick-fil-a nuggets and a variety of drinks and snacks served, and everyone there had fun hanging out with friends and meeting new people in anticipation of the football game.

Taylor mentioned the reason for making the tailgate a shared event with other prehealth organizations was because of the importance of fostering collaboration and unity, which reflects the multidisciplinary nature of medicine. She praised the leadership of the other organizations and expressed her excitement for the chance to work together again in the future to hold joint events. We also cannot wait to see what’s in store next for AED and other prehealth organizations’ collaborations.

This tailgate was the perfect event to get out of the baking sun and heat for a time, connect with other prehealth organizations, and to just enjoy the company of our fellow members as well before the big event of the day. And of course, the Baylor football team gave a great performance during the game and won against Iowa State, preserving our undefeated streak. Sic ‘em bears!
