Upcoming Opportunities/Resources

Muscular Dystrophy Association Summer Camp Volunteering

The MDA is looking for volunteers to serve as a counselor for their National Summer Camp Program! This opportunity would be a great way to gain experience in field-based physician therapy, occupational therapy, or within more medical professions. The camp that they specifically need help with is called Camp For All and is located in Burton, Texas. The commitment would be from June 3rd to June 9th! Check out the flyer if you are interested, and for any additional information reach out to Kendall Seiler at kseiler@mdausa.org.

PHP 2105- Professional Development Course for Sophomores

If you’re interested in guest physician lectures, building a competitive edge for your application, and further exploring your interests as a pre health student, join PHP 2105. Students who previously took this course have already applied to top tier medical schools, earned research and internship positions, and gained personal experiences in the hospital. This course will integrate well with your schedule as we meet once per week on Wednesdays 4:40-5:30 PM. The course is overseen by Dr. Sanker and facilitated by Pre Health Mentor Teaching Assistants. Additionally, you will be paired with a senior mentor who has a wealth of knowledge and will guide you through any questions you may have. This is a once in a college experience to translate your passions into tangible activities throughout your undergraduate career.

GAP Year Medical Assistant Position

There is a really great opportunity to apply to be a medical assistant at Hashwani Neurology Neurophysiology Clinic- a neurology clinic located in Sugar Land, TX. This position would be good for someone taking a gap year for medical school, PA school, or any other related path. The commitment is for a full year, and it will be a paid position. If you are interested in applying, email Miranda for the application questions and lead physician contact! I think that is a really great opportunity that our members can be competitive for :)
